Undergrads From Across U.S. Test UA's Self-Driving Vehicle
College students from across the country put their tech skills to the test by remotely driving the UA's Cognitive and Autonomous, or CAT, vehicle on Aug. 6.
The CAT vehicle demonstration, part of a National Science Foundation-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates program, culminated 10 weeks of coding, experimentation and data analysis.
Tamal Bose, ECE professor and department head, led the 2019 REU with systems and industrial engineering professor Larry Head. The creator and host of the UA CAT program since 2013, Litton Industries John M. Leonis Distinguished Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Jonathan Sprinkle, is on assignment with the NSF in Washington, D.C.
