ABET Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering program, except Software Engineering, is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.

Software Engineering is the newest undergraduate degree program, effective Fall Semester 2021. The Software Engineering degree program may request an evaluation by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, once the degree program yields a cohort of graduates.

Accreditation by ABET is an assurance that the program meets the quality standards of the profession for which it prepares graduates.

These standards include objectives and outcomes defined by the faculty with input from the department’s industrial advisory board and from alumni.

ECE Department Mission Statement

To develop and maintain programs of excellence in teaching and research which will support the state of Arizona in its development as a leading center for high-technology industry and support national needs for the development and application of electrical/electronic/computer-based high technology.

Program Educational Objectives

Our program educational objectives have been defined by the faculty with input from our ECE program constituencies.

  • Objective 1: Technical Proficiency
Building on fundamental knowledge, graduates should continue to develop practical technical skills within and across disciplines in electrical and computer engineering or in closely related fields.
  • Objective 2: Professional Growth
Graduates should develop and exercise their capabilities for life-long learning to enhance their technical and non-technical skills.
  • Objective 3: Leadership Skills
Graduates should develop and refine their personal and professional leadership skills impacting teamwork, communications and professional ethics.

Visit the College of Engineering's ABET page for a full description of degree program objectives and student outcomes.
