ECE Alumnae Discuss Raytheon Employment
Raytheon Missile Systems president Wes Kremer spoke to Arizona Public Media's Arizona 360 show about the company's plans to hire 1,000 new employees in the coming years. ECE alumnae Dani Ibarra, who received her bachelor's degree in 2019, and Mari McCarthy, who earned her bachelor's degree in 2017, shared their experiences about working at Raytheon as software engineers.
McCarthy was inspired to work in defense by a family member, who was in the Army. She was part of a mentorship program that paired her with a Raytheon engineer, and now considers her Raytheon co-workers like family.
Ibarra, a first-generation college graduate, says STEM-related programs in high school helped guide her toward engineering. She now coaches and mentors students and is planning to start a master’s degree in cybersecurity.
