Professor Hao Founds Startup to Improve Vision for Self-Driving Vehicles
Sept. 27, 2018
Lunewave, a startup company co-founded by ECE professor Hao Xin and his brother John, provides improved radar systems for the automotive industry using inexpensive, high-performing 3D-printed Luneburg lenses.
The technology, supported by Tech Launch Arizona, is based on research that Hao has conducted during his tenure as a professor at the University of Arizona.
The investment arms of BMW and the Chinese search technology giant Baidu, along with a large original equipment manufacturer for the auto industry and a slew of technology investors, have all come together to back Lunewave.
Hao and TLA licensing manager Bob Sleeper discussed how the UA community can learn from Lunewave's success on Oct. 22 in a special information session.
