Department Represented In Top Design Day Projects
ECE students made up many of the most successful capstone teams at the College of Engineering's 2023 Craig M. Berge Design Day. The student teams competed for at total of $47,000 in prizes.
“Today is the day where all of your designs came together,” said David W. Hahn, the Craig M. Berge Dean of the college as he opened the awards ceremony. “Today we have a chance to recognize all your wonderful accomplishments.”
ECE students Noah Butler and Evan Rains were part of Team 23078, which built the wearable device "Snorpheus," which records sleeper data to guide treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Their team took home the $7,500 Craig M. Berge Dean’s Award for Most Outstanding Project.
The department was also represented in the second highest-funded award. ECE students Kevin Gilman and Nafisul Khondaker were part of Team 23017, which won the $5,000 Raytheon Technologies Award for Best Overall Design for their Automated Universal Part Singulator. This project included a cartesian robot and high-resolution camera for use in automated assembly lines.
