Roveda to co-direct center advancing health care technology

Janet Roveda, the Litton Industries John M. Leonis Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, directs the Center to Stream Healthcare In Place.
A joint initiative of the University of Arizona College of Engineering and College of Nursing will bring industry and academia together to bring about advances in health care devices. The Center for Health and Technology, or CHaT, brings together engineers, nurse-scientists and medical device companies to develop novel devices that address health care issues.
CHaT researchers will collaborate with technology companies to prototype, build and test devices. This would allow more inventions to quickly move from the idea stage to production, helping meet the needs of patients and health care providers.
“This is what the industry and the community need right now,” said CHaT co-director Janet Roveda, the Litton Industries John M. Leonis Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. “Companies truly want to understand how this can work in real environments and applications.”
