The University of Arizona's 2026 College of Engineering Awards luncheon recognized the efforts faculty and staff made this year to support student success. ECE assistant professor Tomas Cerny won the award for Doctoral Dissertation Advisor/Mentor of the Year.

His research focuses on software engineering, static analysis and cloud-computing applications. Cerny has served for nearly two decades as the lead developer of the International Collegiate Programming Contest Management System. He has authored more than 200 publications, primarily in the areas of code analysis and cloud computing.

“Many of you not only help this college move forward but thrive,” David W. Hahn, Craig M. Berge Dean of the college, told attendees.
