Xiaolong Ma
Xiaolong Ma is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona. He received his PhD in computer engineering at Northeastern University in 2022. Prior to joining the UArizona faculty, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University.
Ma's research encompasses machine learning and deep learning, optimization, computer vision (CV), large language models (LLMs) and data science. He focuses on developing learning algorithms and theoretical foundations for scalable, efficient and trustworthy AI systems. His research is regularly published in top-tier conferences, including NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, ICLR, IEEE S&P (Oakland), ICCV, ECCV, AAAI, IJCAI, ASPLOS, ISCA, MICRO, and DAC, as well as leading journals such as IEEE TPAMI, TNNLS, and CACM. His 2021 paper was selected as the Contributed Article in CACM. He has received multiple honors, including the Best Paper Award at ICLR HAET 2021 and Best Paper Nominations at SenSys 2024, DATE 2021, and ISQED 2018. Several of his publications have been recognized as spotlight or highlight papers at NeurIPS and CVPR. His current research is supported by the National Science Foundation and NASA.
